Goblin Rock II

bigmacmcelwain For me, Goblin Rock II was the soundtrack to my intrapersonal struggle of living in state college as an early 20's something. The coming-of-age themes resonated with me the most as I navigated my last Summer on the quiet end of West College Ave. There's a catharsis to Eugene's vulnerable lyrics and mature vocals. Max really outdid himself with the mastering, Andrew's bass is bright and Ryan's guitar has a sweet indie twang to it. This listen is very nice on the ears. Favorite track: Willard 3.

Diesel 04:24
Every day is a new battle We force ourselves to war Every day is a fading memory We live running in place Every day we look back I wonder if we moved at all All the things I touch and everything I see All the places that we go, everything I am All the things I say, everyone I see All the places that I go, it’s everything Every day’s a new mark Black stains cover my hands Every day I take just one step If only I committed completely Every day in your mind The same thing endlessly All the things I touch and everything I see All the places that we go, everything I am All the things I say, everyone I see All the places that I go, it’s everything

I know what you can’t bear to say We don’t have time to be that way I’m still I’m still You’d say and offer to me Am I really who you need me to be I’m still I’m still Although the names and faces change In the end I stay the same I’m still I’m still I know it’s cold to push you away but it’s not the time or place I’m still I’m still Once again you come to me And again I’ll fail to oblige Forget about me next year Wave goodbye Why can’t I make it there Why do I drag you down Sit me down, throw me away Save it for another day If only you could speak your mind But we never seem to have the time I’m still I’m still I woke up with the sun in my eyes Nothing to read, no reply I’m still I’m still Although the names and faces change In the end I stay the same I’m still I’m still

And when I look at you My shame cuts deep I’m sorry you had to see And when I look at you I can’t take your gaze Wishing I could be If only, I really saw you If only, I understood If only I could show you What you wanted to see And when I look at you You slip through my fingers again but You were never really there And when I look at you The silence hits all at once There’s nothing left to be If only, I really saw you If only, I understood If only I could show you What you wanted to see

Willard 3 04:37
I am never really here Even when I’m home Searching for some face again It’s yours, it’s yours, I know Wherever you are Somewhere you’d be That only I know The words you say The pause that you speak I wonder where you go If only I could be staring back But I know what I get If only I could follow Wherever you go But I was never really there Standing there, microphone Hanging on, cable in Wherever you are Somewhere you’d be That only I know The words you say The pause that you speak I wonder where you go
